What's a B Corp?
The B Corp certification measures a company’s entire social and environmental impact. B Corps are part of a growing global movement of people using business to do good, putting people and the planet before profit.
From our supply chain and input materials to our charitable giving and employee benefits, B Corp Certification demonstrates that we’re meeting the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
Our B Corp Journey
As part of our overall sustainability strategy, we decided to apply to become a B Corp back in 2020. We felt B Corp provided a great framework to continue to build on our sustainability efforts and deliver on our mission to create sustainable, inclusive and happier workspaces.
To become certified, we went through a thorough assessment that looked into our social and environmental performance in five different impact areas: Governance, Community, Workers, Environment and Customers.
Our work so far
Our journey has really only just begun. The certification has given us the tools to continue to build on our ambitious sustainability strategy, join a network of other businesses that are aligned with our ambitions, and inspire others in our sector to do the same!
We intend to keep on improving in every area, and we’ll produce a year Impact Report to share with our members, suppliers, and partners. But there are plenty of great things we’re already doing at Work.Life that have enabled us to become B Corp:
- 100% of our electricity is provided by renewable energy suppliers
- We have recycling programmes in place in all our locations
- We use energy efficient devices and light sensors
- 50% of our leadership team identifies as female
- We track different attributes of our workforce in order to promote more diversity
- We offer our team mental health support, £75 per month wellness budget, and £25 “Team Joy” budget
- We screen all our Significant Suppliers for social and environmental impact
- We follow an environmentally PPP (Preferable Purchasing Policy) when choosing a supplier
“B Corp represents a better way to do business, and I believe that at some point, every company will need to be certified. Being a B Corp encourages people from all across the business to be involved in driving positive change for people and the planet. Being certified and maintaining our certification is an important tool to help us set, maintain and track our current and future goals.”Elliot - Co-Founder
“Being a B Corp signals to our members, suppliers and partners that we are as focused on society and the environment as we are on profit. It’s a wonderful feeling to be part of a business that is making the world a better place.”Sophie - Commercial Director
“Every company should have a culture that supports people and the environment and that’s what’s in place at Work.Life. The whole team are passionate about doing better business, and we’re all working towards the same goals.”Viraj Mistry - Community Lead
“It’s a great feeling when your personal values align with the values of the company you work for, and Work.Life puts people and the environment at the heart of everything they do. It’s inspiring to know that you’re a part of something bigger, a global movement of companies using business as a force for good.”Ana Bernardo - Group Membership Manager
