How much does it cost to rent a coworking space?
The cost of renting a coworking space totally depends on the type of workspace you’re looking for, how many it’s for and how often you plan to use it. Whether it’s super-flexible pay as you go hot desking, a more regular coworking membership, or a permanent shared office space solution, there’s options for everyone and price will differ depending on what you need.
Contact our team for advice on your best-suited workspace.
What’s a coworking office space?
A shared office in a communal coworking space is a great alternative to a traditional office lease, home office or hot desking for startups and small businesses.
A private office space gives you affordable, flexible workplaces, with the amenities of coworking – think unlimited coffee, social events, fitness classes and networking opportunities – but with a bit more privacy. Plus you also have the opportunity to brand your office space and make it your own.
A private office in a coworking space comes fully equipped with furniture, plug sockets, WiFi, and other extras, so you don’t have to worry about a thing when you move into your new office.
What is hot desking?
Hot desking is a flexible working arrangement, usually in a coworking space. In a hot desking space, desks aren’t allocated. Rather than working at a set desk space, people just walk into the space and choose the desk they would like to work at that day.
It’s a great flexible option for freelancers or small teams that are looking for a work-focused environment.
What are the benefits of a communal workspace?
Regardless of your business size, a flexible workspace can be great for both employee engagement and your bottom line. In a shared workspace, companies will use communal facilities, common areas and top amenities, which is great for the environment, too!
If you choose a hot desking membership, you’ll be in the communal area alongside like-minded professionals and businesses. But basing your business in a coworking space doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be in a co shared area; you can rent a private office within a larger shared workspace. Find out more about our private office spaces.
How can I find a shared office near me?
No matter what size your business is, a flexible workspace can be great for productivity and for your bottom line. In a shared workspace, companies use communal facilities, common areas and amenities, which is great for the environment, too!
Choose a hot desking membership and you’ll work in the communal area alongside other like-minded professionals and businesses. You can also rent a private office and still benefit from using the communal areas – giving you the best of both worlds. Find out more about our private office spaces.
What’s the difference between the Flex and Unlimited coworking memberships?
Flex is our pay-as-you-go membership. It’s ideal if you use the workspace less than 2 days each week, as you just pay for the hours you’re in the space.
Unlimited is better if you use the space 2 days a week or more. It offers 24/7 access and a variety of additional benefits, like 50% off meeting rooms, mail handling and free printing.
Can I rent a desk for a day?
With a Flex membership, you pay for your workspace by the hour. And if you want to stay for the whole day, we’ll cap the rate and save you a few pounds (day rates vary by location).
Is Flex a good option for home-office hybrid working?
Definitely! We recommend Flex for anyone who wants a workspace for less than two days a week. That makes it perfect for individuals or teams who work remotely for most of the week but want access to any of our workspaces on-demand. To sign up a team for Flex, please ask here.
Which Work.Life coworking spaces can I use with a hot desking membership?
You have access to all our spaces with both Flex and Unlimited memberships.*
*Reading and Manchester Unlimited members will only have access to another location 1 day each week.
When can I start hot desking?
Signing up for either membership takes just a few minutes on our website. Once you’ve signed up, you’ll need to book an induction at one of our workspaces. Inductions take place at 9am and 3pm on weekdays in each space. At the induction, we’ll show you around the space, explain how to log on to the wifi, and how to print.
After your induction, you’ll receive your membership card and you can get started!
Can I print as a hot desking member?
Yep! Printing is included in the Unlimited membership (within our fair usage policy of 250 B&W and 20 colour sheets per month). If you’re a Flex member, you can purchase a bundle of printing as an add-on.
How much do meeting rooms cost?
The cost of hiring a meeting room varies depending on size, but it ranges from £40-£90 + VAT per hour.
Flex members get a 25% discount on meeting rooms and Unlimited members get a 50% discount.
What times can I access the coworking spaces?
Flex members can access the coworking space from 8.30am – 8.30pm, 7 days a week (excluding bank holidays).
Unlimited members have 24/7 access to any space.
Do I have to pay for anything else once I’m here?
All the kitchen facilities, food and drink are free once you’re here. All Work.Life socials and most events are also free.
Flex members pay for additional services such as printing, mail handling, virtual office and meeting room hire.
Can I bring guests or colleagues in?
You can bring a guest in if you’ve hired a meeting room. With our staff’s permission, you can also bring a guest in for a casual meeting for up to one hour in a breakout area. Guests must not use the hot desking area or phone booths, and you must be with them at all times.
For a colleague, we can charge the Flex day rate to your account (Flex or Unlimited) as a one-off. If they plan to use the space at least once a month, they’ll need their own Flex membership.
How do I pay?
Flex members pay a one-off set up fee of £25, then £20 monthly at the beginning of the billing cycle. That £20 is then applied as credit to use for Flex sessions. Once this has been used, you are charged via direct debit the day after each session.
Unlimited members pay on the first day of each month by direct debit.
The first month’s payment will be taken via credit or debit card on sign up.
Can I upgrade my membership from Flex to Unlimited easily?
Yes, you can upgrade with just 1 day’s notice – please speak to your membership team.
What is the cancellation policy?
We don’t want you to go! But if you must, you must.
Flex membership can be cancelled with no notice, within our Member Portal.
Unlimited members can cancel their membership up to 5 days before the following month. For example, if you cancel on 10 March, your membership will finish at the end of March, having paid a full month already. If you cancel on 28 March, you’ll need to pay in full on 1 April, with your membership ending at the end of April.
We’ll be sad to say goodbye.
I’m still not sure, can I speak to someone?
Absolutely! Feel free to contact us – just call one of our spaces.
